Scope and Content
The Delaware Steeplechase and Race Association merged into the non-profit corporation Delaware Park, Inc. in 1962. William du Pont, Jr., largest stockholder of the Association, suggested that all the stockholders donate their shares to the Delaware Park, Inc. and he agreed to buy the shares of those who did not want to make a donation (letter of April 26, 1962.) The price of $1,5300 per share was determined by Standard Research Consultants, Inc. Merger Files contain correspondence between du Pont, another major stockholder Alfred Bissell, law firm Berl, Potter & Anderson, and Standard Research Consultants, Inc. discussing conditions and steps of the merger, and also correspondence with other stockholders re: their stock donations or sale.
