Scope and Content
Files contain documents related to the construction of the grandstand and other facilities for the race track at Stanton, Del. commissioned by the Delaware Steeplechase & Race Association. Wark & Company acted as a subcontractor and was supervised by B.T. Converse. Job Orders and Job Changes contain chronologically organized information on the labor performed in January-July 1937. Correspondence of T.B. Converse includes some matters regarding his responsibilities as a Delaware Trust Building manager in addition to information about race facilities construction. Enclosures include pages of trade catalogs, advertising material, proposals and specifications, and numerous construction blueprints. Miscellaneous material consists of estimates, drafts, photographs, press clippings and other papers collected by B.T. Converse in preparation for the construction jobs he supervised. Files are organized alphabetically.
Four blueprints with proposed race track, electric diagram and structural details were transferred to Oversize Folder 24.
