Scope and Content
The records in Series III correspond with the Invoices and Receipts in Series II and document William du Pont, Jr.'s banking accounts, which were used for his private expenses and some of his businesses. Expenses for these businesses-Foxcatcher Farms, Foxcatcher Hounds, Foxcatcher Stables-were paid out of the following accounts. The documents cover the period from 1918 to the payments made in 1966 after William du Pont, Jr.'s death on December 31, 1965. With a small exception, those expenses were paid from the various accounts opened by du Pont at the Delaware Trust Company. This series contains bank statements with cancelled checks (Subseries A), deposit receipts (Subseries B), and checkbook stubs (Subseries C), which are organized alphabetically by the name of the bank, and for the Delaware Trust Company, alphabetically by the name of the account and chronologically within the account. In each subseries, there is some missing material, which may be represented in the other subseries.
