Scope and Content
This subseries consists of carbon copies of outgoing correspondence from William du Pont, Jr.'s Wilmington office. It is organized chronologically. Letters were sent by du Pont; his secretary, E. E. Edinger; business assistants, W. A. Shelton, G. E. Sawyer and J. P. Blackstone, for du Pont's companies: Montpelier Supply Company, Foxcatcher Farms, Inc. / Foxcatcher Farms, Foxcatcher Hounds, Stockford Farms, Inc., and its subsidiaries, Shapdale, Inc., Hopeton Holding Corporation, and Delaware Trust Building Corporation. The subjects of correspondence consist of company and farm management and finances, the estate of the late William du Pont, and properties of William du Pont, Jr. There is much documentation about his involvement with the racing and breeding of horses, cattle, and fox-catching hounds, including correspondence with Marion du Pont Somerville Scott. Also, the subseries contains information about William du Pont, Jr.'s activities as the Financial Committee chairman for the Mayor's Employment & Relief Committee (November 1931-March 1932). Part of subseries D duplicates outgoing letters in subseries A.
