Scope and Content

The personal correspondence of William du Pont covers his school and college years from 1869 to 1873 and the period from 1892 to 1901, when his family lived in Europe, mostly in England. Personal correspondence of those years, when the family moved back to the United States until William du Pont's death from 1901 to 1928, is not separated from his business correspondence and is kept in the Series II. General correspondence.
