Scope and Content
Museum materials pertain to the collections and collections management, administration, and exhibits of the Seagram Museum. Records include the “memorabilia collection” of the Museum's archives. This material, most of which appears to have been acquired by purchase, includes 18th and 19th century laws from Canada, U.K., U.S., and France (extracted from bound books); distilling instructions, procedures and recipes; correspondence; licenses; shipping documents; and 18th to 20th century ephemera. Also includes in the Museum records are a log documenting the library and archives accessions 1983-1995; an index of over 1000 documents in Seagram's legal and secretary's departments; fact sheets; materials promoting attractions in the vicinity of the Museum; research materials used in preparation for an exhibit on Kentucky distilleries; correspondence (1975-1981) regarding negotiations with private collectors for the purchase of vintage bottles for the historical packaging collection; and articles and clippings regarding bottle collecting and the history of package design.
