Biographical Note

Richard F. Aurich (1923-2003) was a chemist for the licensing division of the Joseph Bancroft & Sons Company.

Aurich was born February 2, 1923, in Altoona, Delaware, to Ottilia "Odelia" Simon Aurich (1891-1969) and George Aurich (1892-1936). After graduating valedictorian from his high school, Aurich served in the U.S. Army in Ordinance in the European Theatre between 1943 and 1945, including the Normandy invasion. He earned his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Drexel Institute of Technology in 1947 and was a registered engineer in Delaware for thirty-one years.

In 1947, Aurich joined the licensing division of Joseph Bancroft & Sons as a chemist, vice president, and general director of operating services until retiring in 1970. After retiring, he was a resource engineer in the division of environmental control for Delaware from 1971 to 1986.

He died March 31, 2003, in Smyrna, Delaware.
