Biographical/Historical note

Richard Ward (1689-1763) was governor of the colony of Rhode Island from 1741 to 1742. A note on the back of the photograph identifies him as "father of Mary who married Ebenezer Flagg, surgeon. Henry C. Flagg was the son of Ebenezer and Mary."
