Scope and Contents
The first half of this collection contains photographs taken by James H. Yeager during his tenure at Bethlehem Steel as industrial photographer. Photos consist of black & white and color images of the following Bethlehem Steel facilities: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania steel plant, both interior and exterior views; Homer Research Laboratory; Quincy, Massachusetts shipyard; and Sparrows Point, Maryland shipyard and blast furnace exterior. Of particular interest is a single photograph showing a movie set inside the south Bethlehem steel plant presumably documenting the creation of a Bethlehem Steel film. There also are several photographs showing coal mining, ore carriers, and taconite stockpiles, as well as photos of products and structures made using Bethlehem Steel metal, including bridges, skyscrapers, ships, and power line towers.
