Historical Note
Numerous United States Federal agencies issued posters throughout World War II in order to support the war effort. The Railway Labor Executives' Association (RLEA) was founded in 1926 as a lobbist group for railroad labor unions and dissolved in 1997 due to the AFL-CIO Transportation Trades Department forming a rail division. RLEA represented labor unions in several disputes during World War II. Workers were close to going on strike in 1942, however, the federal government intervened and prevented the strike by creating panels and advisory groups which had a reprenstative from RLEA as a member.
Scope and Content
This poster shows a train pulling out of a station which appears in the lower center and five men of different working status's holding ballots above. The text reades "GUARD the HOME FRONT /REGISTER and VOTE! / Railway Labor Executives' Association." The poster contains a union label emblem on the bottom, "LIP&BA SA No. 6 Union Label Cleveland."
