Abstract

Thomas Lansford Foster (1894-1956) was manager of export sales for Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone, Pennsylvania. Baldwin Locomotive Works was a manufacturer of railroad locomotives from 1825 until 1972. This small colleciton consistate of five photographs showing Thomas L. Foster with other Baldwin staff and customers visiting the headquarters.

Biographical Note

Thomas Lansford Foster (1894-1956) was manager of export sales for Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone, Pennsylvania. Foster was born in 1894 to Asa Lansford Foster (1859–1904) and May Marylee MacCalla Foster (1863–1935) in Philadelphia, Pennsyvlania. In 1917, he received his bacheleor of science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsyvlania. After graduation, he began working as an Electric Engineer and salesman for Baldwin Locomotive Works. Baldwin Locomotive Works was a manufacturer of railroad locomotives from 1825 until 1972. He spent his entire career at Baldwin Locomotive Works.

Scope and Contents

Five photographs showing Thomas L. Foster with other Baldwin staff and customers visiting the headquarters. The photographs are group portraits posed either with locomotives (steam and diesel) or in front of the statue of Matthias Baldwin in front of the Baldwin office building in Eddystone, Pennsylvania. The collection also includes a badge "Baldwin Special 18198" and a small Baldwin Locomotive lapel pin in the original box.
