The Rust Craft Publishing Company published greeting cards. The company was founded by Frederick Winslow Rust (circa 1877-1949) in Kansas City, Missouri in 1906. Rust is attributed with creating some of the first greeting cards in America. This collection consists of a folder containing sixteen recipe cards for picnic lunches. The items were published by Rust Craft in Boston, Massachusetts in 1915.

Historical Note
The Rust Craft Publishing Company published greeting cards. The company was founded by Frederick Winslow Rust (circa 1877-1949) in Kansas City, Missouri in 1906. Rust is attributed with creating some of the first greeting cards in America. He was joined by his brother Donald Rust (dates unknown) who eventually founded a line of the company in California while Frederick Rust moved to Boston. In 1914, Rust Craft Publishers was created from the two lines and based in Boston, Massachusetts. In the 1980s, the company was bought along with the Norcross Greeting card company founded by Arthur D. Norcross (1895-1968) by Windsor productions. Windsor productions shortly went out of business in 1981.
Scope and Content
Included in this collection is a folder with two pockets containing sixteen recipe cards for picnic foods to take on a drive, such as watercress sandwiches and shoestring potatoes. The cover of the folder features a picture of a couple picnicking with a picnic hamper. An accompanying poem states: "When you go a'motoring, These things will suit your taste, You'll find them so delicious, That none will go to waste!" Published by Rust Craft, Boston Massachusetts.
