The collection consists of photographs and other materials relating to William Wallace Atterbury. Many of the photographs are portraits and other pictures of Atterbury and his family, friends, and associates, including his Yale classmates, business leaders, and notable figures such as President and Mrs. Herbert Hoover and Charles Lindburgh. These include events such as class reunions and Atterbury's birthday celebrations. Several photographs document Atterbury's service as director-general of transportation for the American Expeditionary Force during World War I. Included are photographs of Atterbury's staff and the occasion upon which General Pershing conferred the Distinguished Service Cross upon ten generals of the American Service of Supply Overseas, including W.W. Atterbury, on February 23, 1919 at Tours, France. Other photographs document Atterbury's leisure activities, particularly fishing and swordfishing, but also boating, golfing, and tennis.

The collection also includes two videocassettes of Pennsylvania Railroad promotional films from the 1920s. "Broadway Limited" promotes the comforts of modern travel by rail from New York to Chicago. "Coast to Coast in 48 hours" records a trip from New York to California by train and plane, with cameo appearances by Charles Lindburgh and Amelia Earhart.
