Historical Note

Stars and Stripes Forever was produced by 20th Century Fox and released in 1952. It is a film biography of composer John Philip Sousa, covering his early days in the Marine Corps Band through the Spanish-American War in 1898.

Scope and Content

This collection consists of five publicity photographs from the motion picture Stars and Stripes Forever. One photograph is a formal portrait of Clifton Webb portraying Sousa in uniform, holding a baton. Two photographs show the Sousa band in concert. One photograph shows a group of dancers and the last photograph shows Webb and Ruth Hussey as John Philip Sousa and his wife, Jennie Sousa.
