This collection contains two pieces of sheet music: "Volume for Victory," the song of the A.C.F. (American Car and Foundry
Company) and "Hamiltonia," song of the Hamilton Watch Company. The American Car and Foundry, Company was founded in 1899 and
is still considered a leading American manufacturer of railcars and railcar parts. The Hamilton Watch Company was founded
in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1892. Among other milestones, it produced the first electric wristwatch in 1957 and the first
digital watch in 1970. The Hamilton brand is currently owned and manufactured by the The Swatch Group out of Switzerland.

Creed and Company Limited was originally founded as Creed, Bille & Company Limited by Frederick George Creed (1871-1957) and
Harald Bille (1879-1916) in 1912 to manufacture and sell telegraphy equipment. In the early 1900s, Creed had invented several
machines that facilitated the sending and receiving of Morse code messages. Much of Creed and Company's manufacturing capacity
was in Croydon, London, England. These photographs show a group tour of the Creed and Company Limited plant in Croydon on
October 14, 1954.

Abstract: |
William Gray Purcell (1880-1965) was an architect who was hired by Alexander Brother's Leather Belting Company. In addition
to architectural duties, Purcell acted as their advertising manager from 1916 to 1918. These colorful items in this collection
were possibly covers designed for trade catalogs or publications. They are all copyrighted 1917, designed in a modern style,
and may have been commissioned for the company's commemorative fiftieth anniversary that year.

industry. Initially organized as a response to the demands placed on contractors during the First World War, today the Association
has over 26,000 member firms. The records of the Associated General Contractors of America consist of annual convention and
board meeting reports; minutes, digests of action, and resolutions of the executive committee; an unpublished history of the
organization, and general and internal policy statements.

of national or cultural significance. World's Columbian Exposition, the Chicago World's Fair which was staged from May to
October, 1893, commemorated 400 years since Columbus's New World arrival. This small collection consists of four printed tickets
to the World's Columbian Exposition, each bearing a different portrait: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Christopher Columbus,
a Native American.

Captain C.E. (Clarence Edward) "Bim" Argyle (1927-2006) was a riverboat captain for Consolidation Coal and a World War II
Navy veteran. He worked primarily on steamers and coal barges along the Monongahela River in Western Pennsylvania. These two
albums record Argyle's river experience between 1943 and 1950. There are portraits of his co-workers as well as many photographs
of numerous commercial boats.

Avon Products, Inc. is a manufacturer and direct selling company of beauty products. It is one of the oldest direct selling
companies in America. The company was founded in 1886 by David H. McConnell (1856-1937) as the California Perfume Company
(CPC). McConnell established a manufacturing headquarters and research laboratory in Suffern, New York, in the 1890s. During
the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, CPC expanded its line of products to include cosmetics, household cleaners,
food flavorings, and toiletries. The collection consists of photographs, negatives, slides, films, videos and sound recordings
date from 1856 to 2000. The materials depict Avon products, their manufacture, packaging and sale, Avon employees and representatives
and the offices, laboratories, factories and other structures owned by Avon Products, Inc. The collection is organized into

The American Meat Institute (AMI) is a large trade organization for the meat and poultry industry. Founded in 1906 as the
American Meat Packers Association in Chicago. During World War II, the AMI stressed the importance of a balance diet in order
to keep both civilians and servicemembers strong and healthy. The AMI produced many posters to promote their efforts. This
poster shows categories of food along with how many servings is recommended daily.

vending machines which dispensed soda, coffee, milk, sandwiches, soup, salads, pastries and ice cream. This album is a promotional

production and towards chemistry innovations. Ponsol is the DuPont trade name of a line of anthraquinone vat dyes first commercially

Atlantic Aviation was begun by Henry Belin du Pont (1898-1970) in 1927 to provide services for business aviation. In 1948
it moved from the Du Pont Airport to the new New Castle County Airport south of Wilmington, Delaware. Soon it expanded to
other airports around the country. The collection includes portraits and views of Atlantic Aviation facilities at various
airports. There are also a few photographs of airplanes, including the
Spirit of St. Louis.

The American Iron and Steel Institute is a trade association of North American steel producers. The group’s mission includes
advocating for public policy, education and innovation for the Iron and Steel Industry. The Institute was established under
the leadership of Elbert H. Gary (1846-1927) in 1908, after the Panic of 1907 brought an end to industry-wide consolidations.
This collection consists of photographs, research notes, audio, film, and video which document the history of the steel industry.
The images cover the entire scope of the steel industry from basic raw materials through the multiple aspects of steelmaking.
In addition to images documenting the technical aspects of steel production, there are photographs showing steel in use. These
include a variety of industrial and consumer applications and images related to the steel industry and environmental issues.
The Albert T. Keller photographs depict the sites or remains of early ironworks primarily in the mid-Atlantic states and New
England states during the 1930s and there are over fifty blast furnace complexes pictured. The Walter C. Woodman photographs
and research notes document the history of iron furnaces and Saugus Iron Works becoming a national historic landmark.
