Abstract:

E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company's Agricultural Products Department was responsible for the research, development, and manufacturing of organic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and other agricultural chemicals. The records include a history of the department, chronology of the benzimidazole fungicide development, history of the technical development of Benomyl, and a small collection of papers from Ralph K. Iler (1909-1985) describing the department's fundamental research program on inorganic chemistry.

Scope and Contents:

The RCA buildings/facilities series show exterior and interiors of RCA warehouses, factories, plants, and offices. Some images include workers, work areas, equipment, machinery, and/or products. The series has been organized into five subseries: Area shots, Buildings, Identified plants/laboratories, Plant change over, and Unidentified factories/laboratories. The materials date from circa 1930 to 1977.

The Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Company was a manufacturer of cartridge ammunition for fire arms. This collection consists of copy photographs of Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Company facilities in Bridgeport, Connecticut, including interiors of a laboratory and exteriors of various buildings.

Willard H. Watkins photographs

Abstract:

Willard H. Watkins (1874-1953) was a chemist and manager of the Application Laboratories for the Calco Chemical Division of the American Cyanamid Company. This small collection mainly consists of photographs depicting interior views of the chemical plant of the Allied Chemical and Dye Corporation in Buffalo, New York. These images show laboratory interiors with men and women working, dating to around the 1920s.
