Anthony D. Robbi papers, 1955-1995

Scope and Content:

The Anthony D. Robbi papers are composed of correspondence, reports, and diagrams related to his work at RCA on the FRED program, automotive electronics, and electronic ballot technologies. The papers also contain documents related to Alpex Computer Corporation V. Nintendo Company LTD. and Nintendo of America, Inc., Atari games, and other computer programs.

Seven of Robbi's lab notebooks (1961-1968) can be found in Record group 26.

Charles M. Wine papers, 1953-2001

Scope and Content:

Charles Wine's papers include information about patents awarded to Wine and other scientists whose patents were relevant to his; the Cole Patent, over which RCA unsuccessfully sued several companies for infringement; various resources RCA's scientists used during the invention process; projects sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA); and Wine's Identity Controller Utility (ICU.)

Of particular value are the papers documenting the DSRC's unsuccessful attempt to develop a virtual reality video game console in the 1990s (see Subseries F.).

Douglas Dixon papers, 1981-2003

Scope and Content:

The Douglas Dixon papers are composed of records generated by Dixon during his tenure as a project manager at the Sarnoff Corporation (1993-2003). They encompass notes and presentations related to projects Dixon oversaw – such as VideoBrush, Just Noticeable Difference (JND), and GreatHomeVideo (GHV) – all of which allowed home consumers to manipulate photos or videos for improved quality or performance. This series also includes background and research materials, such as scientific articles on optics, and press clippings of competitors’ products. Of special note in Series I is a DVD containing video excerpts of the projects Dixon oversaw, including a virtual reality video game called "Palenque."
