 Series
Accession: 1411Identifier: 1411-XVIII.
Scope and Contents:

The International Affairs Department focused primarily on national defense, including space. The material in this series documents the department’s work from the 1960s to the mid-1970s, and is broken into two subseries: Committees, subcommittees, and task force and Subject files. The Committees, subcommittees, and task force subseries includes the records of a variety of groups within the department, with particular emphasis on the National Defense Committee. This committee was established to promote defense industry membership, and under Werner P. Gullander (1908-2000), moved toward support for defense expansion during the early 1960s. The Subject files subseries consist of files that were maintained by the department on items important to their work, including aerospace, CODSIA (Council of Defense and Space Industry Associations), and independent research and development.
