Guard the Home Front, World War II poster

Abstract:

Numerous United States Federal agencies issued posters throughout World War II in order to support the war effort. The Railway Labor Executives' Association (RLEA) was founded in 1926 as a lobbist group for railroad labor unions. This item is a poster issued by the RLEA titled "Guard the Homefront" and is designed to encourage people to vote.

Henry A. du Pont letters to Benjamin Harrison (photocopies)

Henry Algernon du Pont (1838-1926) was a military officer, a politician from Delaware, and vice president of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. The collection contains two photocopied letters of du Pont to President Benjamin Harrison (1833-1901) concerning the Republican Party in Delaware prior to the state elections.

Pierre Samuel "Pete" du Pont, IV papers

Abstract:

Pierre Samuel du Pont, IV (1935 -2021), known by many as "Pete," was the sixty-eighth governor of Delaware from 1977 to 1985. In 1987, du Pont started his campaign for president, running as a Republican candidate. After his withdrawal from the presidential race, Pete du Pont resigned from politics and became a partner at Delaware law firm Richards, Layton & Finger. Du Pont was a published writer and member of several academic and political institutions throughout his life and professional career. The collection is predominantly textual material, the bulk of which is du Pont's published writing and professional correspondence as a politician and lawyer. There are photographic prints included that document du Pont's personal life with his family and general du Pont family legacy media coverage. The video portion chronicles du Pont's public appearances, as well as television programs and forums that highlight general conservative talking points, and the work of the National Center for Policy Analysis. The material spans from the mid-twentieth century to the early twenty-first century.

The Presidential election of 1932 was between Republican candidate and incumbent Herbert Hoover (1874-1964) and the Democratic candidate Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945). This item is a small wooden puzzle, "The Presidential Puzzle," from the campaign of Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932.

The Women's Organization for National Prohibition Reform (WONPR) National Committee investigated the increase in drunkenness and effect of Prohibition, operated a publicity campaign, created a speakers' bureau, spoke at legislative hearings, and enrolled members. This collection of the Pennsylvania division records consists of the Executive Committee minutes, administrative files, financial records, and membership records.
