Alice Lea Spruance (1876-1967) was the daughter of Delaware governor Preston Lea (1841-1916) and his first wife Adelaide Moore (1846-1888). Since the 1770s, the Lea family were among the largest flour mill operators at the Brandywine Falls, north of Wilmington, Delaware. This collection of personal and business papers document Spruance's personal investments, a diversified portfolio of stocks and bonds that was managed by her relative Alfred E. Bissell (1903-1975) of Laird, Bissell & Meeds, brokers. Also included are descriptions, anecdotes, memoranda, and clippings relating to Wilmington and the Brandywine area, particularly the Brandywine Mills, the source of the Lea family's wealth.
Henry Belin du Pont (1873-1902) was a descendant of Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours (1739-1817) who founded the E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company with his son Eleuthère Irénée du Pont (1771-1834) in 1802. The E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company is a chemical company more commonly referred to as the DuPont Company. The collection consists of views of and along the Brandywine Creek. These include the following du Pont family homes: Pelleport, Goodstay, Nemours, St. Amour, and Louviers. These photographs were possibly taken by Henry Belin du Pont (1873-1902).
E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company was established in 1802 by Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours (1739-1817) and his son Éleuthère Irénée du Pont (1771-1834). This collection of more than 1250 discrete photographs depicts the landscape and buildings at or near the company's explosives manufacturing plants along Brandywine Creek near Wilmington, Delaware. Approximately 900 images depict powder yard sites, including the DuPont Experimental Station, either during the mills' final decades of operation or prior to, during, and after excavation and restoration work on the site in the 1950s and 1960s. Most of the remaining images depict the worker communities which surrounded the powder yards.

Frank R. Zebley (1883-1960) was a Delaware native collector, photographer, author, and one-time speaker of the Delaware House of Representatives. He published Along the Brandywine and The Churches of Delaware. The Frank R. Zebley photograph albums includes nearly 1500 black and white photographs from the city of Wilmington, locations around Delaware, southeastern Pennsylvania, and other places of interest in the mid-Atlantic region.
Joseph Bancroft (1803-1874), an Englishman trained in textile weaving in Lancashire, established his own cotton mill on the Brandywine near Wilmington in 1831. The operation became the Joseph Bancroft & Sons Company in 1889. The photographs consist of images related to the Joseph Bancroft & Sons textile mills in the Rockford and, later, Kentmere areas on the banks of the Brandywine River. These images include plant exteriors and interiors, officials and employees, aerials, workers' housing, machinery, floods, and dams and races on Brandywine Creek.

Alfred Irénée du Pont (1864-1935) was the eldest son of E. I. du Pont (1829-1877). He joined the family gunpowder firm in 1884, eventually becoming co-owner. He was an accomplished musician who composed many scores, however, he destroyed most as he became deaf. Only six survive. This compact disc contains six sound recordings of scores composed by Alfred I. du Pont. Pierre A. Gentieu was a long-term employee of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company who created an invaluable photographic record of the company's Brandywine Mills at the turn of the century. This small collection includes original drymounted photographic prints of views near Henry Clay Village in Delaware by Pierre Gentieu. Several have simple hand drawn decorative borders on them and are signed. There are also several items related to DuPont Gunpowder and rifles.
