Marie Delphine du Pont (1916-2009) was the great-great-grandaughter of E.I. du Pont (1771-1834), the founder of the DuPont Company. Her papers consist of letters and postcards between du Pont and her cousin, Irene Sophie du Pont May (1900-2001).

Biographical Note
Marie Delphine du Pont (1916-2009) was the great-great-grandaughter of E.I. du Pont (1771-1834), the founder of the DuPont Company. She was born on November 8, 1916, the twin daughter of Francis Irénée du Pont (1873-1942) and Marianna Rhett (1875-1967). She attended Miss Shipley's School at Bryn Mawr and then art school in Boston. In 1939, she married Taleasin Hadyn Davies Jr. (1916-1967).
Davies was an avid horseback rider all her life, keeping horses at her parents' home at Upper Louviers and then at Mary Warners and Mt. Harmon in Maryland after her marriage.
