Margaretta Lammot du Pont (1807-1898) was the wife of Alfred Victor du Pont (1798-1856), who worked for E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. In 1885, she sent a letter to Meta Kemble de Forest (1852-1933) which indicates she is sending book from "Aunt Sophie" [Sophie Madeleine du Pont (1810-1888)].

Biographical Note
Margaretta Elizabeth Lammot (1807-1898) was the daughter of Daniel Lammot (1782-1877) and Suan Parham Beck (1786-1817) of Philadelphia. In 1824, she married Alfred Victor du Pont (1798-1856), a son of Eleuthère Irénée du Pont (1771-1834) and Sophie Madeleine Dalmas (1775-1828). Alfred du Pont joined the family firm of E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. in 1818 and eventually became senior partner; he resigned from the company in 1850.
Alfred and Margaretta du Pont lived on the du Pont family property in the house Nemours, located north of Wilmington, Delaware. They had seven children: Victorine Elizabeth (1825-1887), Emma Paulina (1827-1914), Eleuthère Irénée II (1829-1865), Lammot (1831-1884), Alfred Victor (1833-1893), Mary Sophie (1834-1870), and Antoine Biderman (1837-1923). Margaretta Lammot du Pont helped establish a Swedenborgian congregation in Wilmington. After her husbands death, she moved to another residence, Goodstay, located in Wilmington, where she resided until her death.
Biographical Note
Meta Kemble de Forest (1852-1933) was the eldest daughter of Peter Kemble (1825-1887) and Victorine Elizabeth du Pont Kemble (1825-1887) of New York. Victorine's mother was Margaretta Lammot du Pont (1807-1898). Meta Kemble married Lockwood de Forest (1850-1932), an artist, in 1880; they had three children.
