Scope and Contents

Joseph W. Lynch's papers document his forty-year career at the DuPont Company. Some company records in Lynch's possession antedate his employment, while others describe his job searches from 1952 to 1954.

The bulk of the records deal with customer relations, including identifying and resolving problems concerning DuPont's textile fiber products and providing technical assistance to customers. They include a file of business cards collected by Lynch for this work, as well as lists for sending Christmas cards to contacts. Other records describe laboratory tests on nylon and dacron, marketing forecasts for Orlon, and brochures and fabric samples of nylon, Antron, and Tyvek. Lynch's expense reports detail the scope of his worldwide business travels. There are also company organization charts and employee benefit handbooks, as well as materials received in connection with a week-long management workshop at Columbia University in 1974.
