Abstract

The Wilmington Trapshooting Association (WTA) was organized in 1910 and continues to be active today. This collection consists of photographs of members of the Wilmington Trapshooting Association at various events from the early 1900s through the 1980s.

Historical Note

The Wilmington Trapshooting Association (WTA) was organized in 1910 as the Du Pont Gun Club which disbanded in 1915. The shooting club reestablished itself in 1916 as the Wilmington Trapshooting Club. In 1971 the WTA merged with the Frenchtown Sportsmen’s Association and bought the current property in Glasgow, Delaware. The property today exceeds 40 acres and offers 14 trap fields and the Biggs’ Skeet Fields.

Scope and Content

This collection consists of photographs of members of the Wilmington Trapshooting Association at various events from the early 1900s through the 1980s. There are photographs of men and women shooters engaging in shoots, as well as spectators at events. There are several images of the clubhouse and aerial views of the grounds. There are portraits of individual shooters and group photographs.
