Historical Note
Bond, Crown and Cork was a supplier of crown cork bottle caps. It operated at 16th and Locust Streets in Wilmington, Delaware. Its research activities, which began in 1910, centered around pairing composition cork with various types of binding materials. In the 1940s, Continental Can Company purchased Bond, Crown and Cork, and it continued on as the Bond Crown Division of that company.
Scope and Content
This collection contains glass and acetate negatives for printing bottle caps for beer and soft drink labels. The glass negatives come in two sizes: 17 x 14 inches and 8 x 10 inches. The acetate negatives are duplicates of the glass negatives, and most of those can be paired with the 8 x 10s. All dated negatives are from 1939, and it is likely that the remainder are from a similar time period.
