Historical Note
The Association Against the Prohibition Amendment (AAPA) was the leading organization working for the repeal of prohibition in the United States. Founded in 1918 by William H. Stayton (1861-1953), the Association Against the Prohibition Amendment was an early advocacy group for prohibition repeal in the United States. It became a leading and nationally prominent organization for the cause in the mid-1920s after attracting a number of prominent Americans to its membership, including Pierre S. du Pont (1870-1954), Irénée du Pont (1876-1963), and John J. Raskob (1879-1950).
Scope and Contents
Each postcard and folded card (stationery) is headed with the saying "Prohibition-Probes" and is followed by an anti-prohibition slogan or quotation. The items are all undated but likely date from 1930 to 1933.
