Historical Note
Exposition Internationale of 1937, was held in Paris, France from 25 May to 25 November. The full title of the exhibition was, Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne, which translates to the International Exposition of Art and Technology in Modern Life. Forty-five countries participated in the exposition and there were over 30 million visitors. The French pavilion was a structure called the Palais de Chaillot. Notable events included a flower show, motorboat races, a dance festival, horse racing, boxing matches, a grape festival, sports competitions, and several theater performances.
Scope and Contents
The viewbook contains ten postcards of views of the Exposition Internationale held in Paris in 1937. These show both aerial views and images of the exteriors of buildings. The Eiffel Tower is featured in two views. The image on each postcard is repeated in a smaller photographic print that is attached to the left side of the postcard. The viewbook was originally a booklet but the individual pages have been separated.
