William L. Hogg (dates unknown) was an employee of Haskell Works where gunpowder was manufactured. This collection consists of a circular photographic identification badge featuring a black and white portrait photograph as well as a Germansilver match safe with a DuPont Haskell label on the front and William L. Hogg's name written above.

Historical Note

William L. Hogg (dates unknown) was an employee of Haskell Works where gunpowder was manufactured. In 1894, the American Smokeless Powder Company built a works near Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. The company was taken over by the Laflin & Rand Company in 1898, and a newly-built works near the old one was named after the company's president, Jonathan Amory Haskell (1861-1923). In 1902, DuPont took control of Laflin & Rand, including the Haskell Works. The works played an important role in smokeless powder production during World War I, but was permanently closed in 1926, when DuPont consolidated its smokeless powder production at Carney's Point, New Jersey.

This small collection consists of a circular photographic identification badge featuring a black and white portrait photograph, probably of William L. Hogg. Also included in the collection is a Germansilver match safe with a DuPont Haskell label on the front and William L. Hogg's name written above.
