Historical Note
Hardware stores sell household hardware for home improvement directly to customers, including fasteners, keys, locks, hinges, chains, plumbing supplies, electrical supplies, cleaning products, housewares, tools, utensils, paint, and lawn and garden products. Many hardware stores have specialty departments unique to their region or owner's interests. These departments may include hunting and fishing supplies, plants and nursery products, marine and boating supplies, pet food and supplies, farm and ranch supplies including animal feed, homebrewing supplies and canning supplies.
Scope and Content
This is a very faded image of the exterior of an unidentified hardware store. Signage shows "Fishing Tackle/Powder & Shot/Tools and Cutlery" and a street level sign reads "Realford Hard[ware]/Realford Tin & Wood." It is unclear whether Realford is a product name or the name of the establishment. Three men are posed in front by a wheelbarrow and two barrels.
