Biographical Note

American botanist Russell J. Seibert (1914-2004) was the former director of Longwood Gardens. Longwood Gardens is a series of formal display gardens on over 1,077 acres in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Seibert was the first director of Longwood Gardens and served from 1955 until 1979. He received his doctorate in botany from George Washington University in St. Louis.

Scope and Content

Collection consists of a typewritten script of a speech, a casette recording of the speech, and accompanying slides given by Dr. Russell Seibert in August 1978 at the XXth International Horticultural Congress in Sydney, Australia. Slides predominantly show Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pennslyvania.
