The Coca-Cola Company is a software beverage manufacturer. It was formulated in 1886 by Dr. John Stith Pemberton (1831-1888) as a medicinal syrup for headaches. Asa G. Candler (1851-1929) purchased the formula from Pemberton in 1888 and incorporated it as the Coca-Cola Company in 1892. The company has since evolved into a corporation producing beverages and associated products. Coca-Cola established a unique distribution system that allowed independent bottling companies to buy the soft drink, then bottle and distribute it.
Coca-Cola remains one of the largest beverage manufacturers in the United States, with more than 2,800 products available in more than 200 countries.
