Historical Note
The Centennial Exhibition of 1876 celebrated the one-hundredth anniversary of American Independence. It was held in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia and was the first major U.S. world's fair. The fairgrounds were made up of several main buildings, as well as some 250 pavilions and auxiliary structures, including twenty-four state buildings, each designed in a regional style.

Exhibition Building, Agricultural Building, Horticultural Hall, Art Gallery, Womens' Pavilion, Arkansa (sic) State Building, Colorado and Kansas State Building, Connecticut State Building, Delaware State Building, Ill State Building, Indiana State Building, Massachusett (sic) State Building, Michigan State Building, New Hampshire State Building, New Jersey State Building, New York Tate (sic) Building, Pennsylvania State Building, Ohio State Building, English Government Building, German Government Building, The Spanish Building, and The T. A. B. Fountain.
