E. C. Kellogg and Co. was a lithography firm in Hartford, Connecticut between 1851 and 1854. Elijah Chapman Kellogg (1811-1881) and his brother, Edmund Burke Kellogg (1809-1872) were partners in a lithograph firm called E.B. & E.C. Kellogg which began in 1842. The Kellogg brothers took on John Chenavard Comstock (1818-1862) as a partner in 1848 and changed the name to Kellogg & Comstock until the partnership dissolved in 1850.

E.C. Kellogg worked on his own for a period of time producing decorative prints, the landscapes in particular are known for being exceptional. In 1854 the brothers reunited and reformed E.B. & E.C. Kellogg.

Historical Note

The New York Crystal Palace was an exhibition building for the the Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations in New York City in 1853. The building was constructed in what is now Bryant Park in Manhattan.

The Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations was a World's Fair modeled after the highly successful 1851 Great Exhibition in London. The New York Crystal Palace was inspired by the Crystal Palace built in London. Both exhibition buildings were constructed out of iron and glass. The New York Crystal Palace was designed by Georg Carstensen (1812-1857) and architect Karl Gildemeister (1820-1869). The building was in the shape of a Greek cross with a 100 feet in diameter dome. The New York Crystal Palace was destroyed in a fire on October 5, 1858.
