Historical Note

Wilmington is the largest city in Delaware located on the Christiana and Brandywine Rivers. Originally colonized by the Swedish, Dutch and English in the seventeenth century. Wilmington was incorporated in 1731 and received a city charter in 1832.

Scope and Content

This collections contains four mounted photographic prints showing facades of Wilmington, Delaware, bank buildings: Artisan's Saving Bank (1909 and 1931 remodeled fronts) and Union National Bank (before 1908). The fourth unidentified view may be of an earlier Union National Bank building.
