Historical Note
The Saxon Motor Car Company was located in Detroit, Michigan and had offices in Troy, New York. It began producing automobiles in the winter of 1913 to 1914, when the company introduced a two-seater roadster. The roadster was followed by a 6-cylinder touring car and a small number of delivery vans. Company sales peaked in 1916. Production dropped off rapidly by 1920 and the company sold its final automobiles and closed in 1923.
Scope and Content
The album contains photographs of the Saxon Motor Car Company's offices in Troy, New York and Detroit, Michigan. These include images of the company's reception room, conference room, mailing, research, plan and printing departments and views of the company executives' offices. Employees appear in almost all of the images. A few of the workers are formally posed at their desks, but most appear to be working and are not looking directly at the camera.
