Historical Note
Wilmington is the largest city in Delaware located on the Christiana and Brandywine Rivers. Originally colonized by the Swedish, Dutch and English in the seventeenth century. Wilmington was incorporated in 1731 and received a city charter in 1832.

This collection is a souvenir album containing fourteen views of notable buildings and places in Wilmington, Delaware. They include: view from 3rd Street bridge, Christiana River [i.e. Christina River]; Pennsylvania Railroad Depot; Grand Union Hotel; Old Swedes Church; First Presbyterian Church; Opera House; Newcastle [i.e New Castle] County Court House; Custom House and Post Office; City Hall; City Market, King Street; Grace Methodist Church; St. John's Episcopal Church; Senator F. F. Bayard's residence [i.e. Thomas F. Bayard] (residence was known as Delamore Place); and a view from 9th Street hill.
