Biographical Note
Arthur Sykes, Jr. (b. 1914) grew up in Henry Clay. His father was a machinist in the powder mills. Sykes himself began working for DuPont in his early twenties.
Scope and Content
Interviewer: Dorothy Tremaine in Wilmington, Delaware
Sykes recounts his childhood daily routine at Henry Clay, his education, caddying at Du Pont Country Club, and chores. He also describes the house in detail, church services, typical dress, and entertainment and pastimes.
