Charles M.A. Stine (1882-1954) was one of the leading research chemists employed by E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. The collection contains Stine's published articles and speeches in which he advocated the importance of fundamental chemical research.

Abstract:

Science and Corporate Strategy is a scholarly history of Research and Development at the DuPont Company authored by David A. Hounshell (1950-) and John Kenly Smith (1951-). The collection consists of research files compiled by Hounshell Smith for the purpose of writing the book. Research files include copies of correspondence, articles, reports, patents, chronologies, organizational charts, and contracts from the DuPont Company from 1903 though 1980.

DuPont Company Hypalon synthetic rubber photographs

Abstract:

E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company is a chemical company more commonly referred to as the DuPont company, established in 1802. Hypalon is a chlorosulfonated polyethylene and was the second artificial rubber synthesized by DuPont after Neoprene. This collection consists of nine photographs relating to Hypalon synthetic rubber, produced by the DuPont Company at its Beaumont, Texas production facility.

The Neoprene B plant was located at DuPont's Deepwater Point, New Jersey site, which was later named the Chambers Works. This collection consists of three panoramic photographs showing the construction of the Neoprene B plant.

Oliver M. Hayden papers

Oliver M. Hayden (1893-1991) was a chemist who specialized in rubber and worked for E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company as manager of the laboratory where he was part of the team that developed Neoprene. His papers document his work on the Neoprene project, the activities of the Rubber Chemicals Division, and a draft of an oral history interview.

Robert R. Radcliff papers

Abstract:

Robert R. Radcliff (1916-2006) joined E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. as a chemist in 1945. As later division head for new products development at the Rubber Laboratory, later the Elastomers Laboratory at Chestnut Run, his principal achievement was developing the maleimide curing system for making "Hypalon" artificial rubber. The papers in this collection are a small selection of professional materials preserved by Dr. Radcliff and his family.
