Historical Note
Remington Arms Company is one of the oldest American manufacturer of firearms and ammunition. It is also the largest producer of shotguns and rifles in the United States. Founded in 1816, Remington designs and sells sporting goods products for both civilian and military use. The chemical company E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co., Inc. (DuPont) first purchased shares in the company in 1933 and purchased the remaining shares in 1980, making Remington a wholly-owned subsidiary.
Peters Cartridge Company was a smokeless ordnance and ammunition company based in Kings Mill, Ohio. Remington Arms Company purchased Peters Cartridge Company in 1934 and continued the manufacture of smokeless powder until 1944.
Scope and Content
This film is a documentary short on target shooting. It starts with an introduction to target shooting, including the historical marksmen and the best of its day. Wilbur Cox and other current shooters perform a demonstration, taking aim at a variety of targets. The film was shot in Dade County Florida and Westchester County. It is sponsored by Remington Arms and Peter Cartridges.
