Biographical Note

Charles Mattathias Jacobs (1850-1919) was a British tunneling engineer. Jacobs managed the design and construction of the first New York City Pennsylvania Railroad terminal. In 1910, he was awarded the Telford Gold Medal for his work as Chief Engineer on the Hudson River tunnel project.
