Atlantic Aviation was begun by Henry Belin du Pont (1898-1970) in 1927 to provide services for business aviation. In 1948 it moved from the DuPont Airport to the new New Castle County Airport south of Wilmington, Delaware. Soon it expanded to other airports around the country, and today is a major aircraft maintenance and sales provider.
The collection includes portraits of Henry Belin du Pont and Edward B. du Pont; views of Atlantic Aviation facilities at various airports, including Du Pont Airport and New Castle County Airport (now the Greater Wilmington Airport) near Wilmington, DE; Teeterboro, New Jersey airport; Long Beach, California airport, and other unidentified. There is a photograph of Henry B. du Pont with Charles Lindbergh (1902-1974), one of the Spirit of St. Louis airplane, and one of Henry B. du Pont with his own airplane. Also a photograph of an unidentified airplane cockpit and one of a Delta Airlines Super DC-8 jet taking off.
